The author, James R. Palmer, spent twenty years serving his country in the military. He then spent several years in the corporate world before joining the Department of Corrections in Kentucky. He spent his entire career at (LLCC) Luther Luckett Correctional Complex. He was also an FBI-trained hostage negotiator. Now retired, he still resides in Kentucky. These two books were written because he wanted to provide the uninformed a glimpse of what happens inside those four walls of either concrete or chain link fence and razor wire. To get a feel of what it's like to be 'incarcerated' with some of society's worst and some not quite so bad. A chance to read about the stories of some of the things that transpire inside. Those who retired from the DOC always said they would write a book, but none ever did. So, he did. The first book, Doing Time Eight Hours a Day: Memoirs of a Correction Officer, was published several years ago. This is the sequel: More Tales from the Yard, Stories from Inside the Prison.
