In this novel the United States helps Taiwan create a missile defense
system for protection from Communist China.
America's technological genius creates an impenetrable, multi-faceted
shield called "Diamond Dome." The dome consists of multiple layers
including space-based warning systems, radars on the ground and
at sea, vessels surrounding the island, F-22 Raptor aircraft, lasers
and AI-based Battle Management Systems.
Mainland China has had the goal of annexing Taiwan for 90-years
since World War II. The Chinese military could easily crush, indeed
destroy, the island. However, Taiwanese computer chips and
related technologies employ over a million workers on the mainland.
Therefore, a massive attack or invasion is untenable. Consequently,
the sole option becomes a hypersonic missile strike air burst over
Taipei to force Taiwan to capitulate. But the Diamond Dome holds.
It becomes a seminal event for China to realize it can't capture Taiwan.
With additional trade pressure from America, China is forced to
negotiate a century-long non-aggression treaty. As a result, America
foregoes building is own Golden Dome. And the treaty initiates a
new era of global peace and economic prosperity.
