James Douglas Leach was born on July 9, 1943, during World War II and was named after General Douglas MacArthur. A natural risk-taker, Jim has always embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, which has led to a fulfilling and adventurous life.
His many accomplishments are shared with his wife, Cindy, his partner of 60 years. Known for her lively spirit, Cindy brought joy to their bus tours with her creative costumes. Together, they volunteered as EMTs in Cheyenne County for a decade, always eager to serve their community.
Jim's diverse experiences reflect his passion for learning and pushing boundaries. He farmed thousands of acres in Bird City, Kansas, set a state record in sugar beet production, and raced Corvettes at the Wichita
International Drag Strip. A lifelong lover of the arts, he is a competition ballroom dancer, a guitarist, and an author of ten books of poetry and short stories. His love for travel led him and Cindy to establish Jim and Cindy's Tours, through which they escorted thousands of travelers across the U.S. and around the world, visiting over 148 international destinations.
With a deep faith that has strengthened over the years, especially after undergoing open-heart surgery, Jim has found a renewed connection with Jesus Christ. He continues to embrace life with curiosity, humor, and gratitude, always looking forward to the next adventure.
Jim's poetry is delightfully entertaining, and it takes the reader on an eclectic, fun ride!
