"Tiruvasagam" is a collection of hymns composed in praise of Lord Shiva, the supreme deity of the Shaivite tradition. It was authored by the saint Manikkavasagar.
Among the twelve sacred Shaivite scriptures known as the Panniru Thirumurai, Tiruvasagam is the eighth. An old Tamil saying goes, "Those who are not moved by Tiruvasagam will not be moved by any other scripture." Filled with devotional flavor and the power to melt the heart, the hymns of Tiruvasagam are considered among the finest works in Tamil literature. In this book, they have been presented beautifully along with their English translations.
