Dr. Seth C.W. Hayden is an associate professor of counseling, coordinator of the clinical mental health program, and associate director of online counseling programs at Wake Forest University. His research focuses on the connection between career development and mental health. In addition, he examines the career and personal development needs of military service members, veterans, and their families. He is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina, a nationally certified counselor, a certified clinical mental health counselor, and an approved clinical supervisor. He has experience providing counseling in community agencies, non-profit, K-12, and higher education settings. He is a past president of the Military and Government Counseling Association and National Career Development Association, both divisions of the American Counseling Association. He is a co-author of Group Career Counseling: Practices and Principles (2nd ed.) and Career Development for Transitioning Veterans and co-editor of Cognitive Information Processing: Career Theory, Research, and Practice. Dr. Hayden received bachelor’s degrees in psychology and education from the University of Memphis. He also obtained his master’s degree in counseling from the University of Memphis and his doctorate in counselor education from the University of Virginia. He is also a senior research associate at the Florida State University Center for the Study of Technology in Counseling and Career Development.
