After many years buried in research, Scottish based writer Mark Bridgeman released his first book, The River Runs Red, in 2019. The book became an instant success and has been reprinted three times. Further best-selling titles, Blood Beneath Ben Nevis and The Dark Side of the Dales followed in 2020.

Mark's history of an abandoned Scottish community, The Lost Village of Lawers, achieved worldwide sales in 2021 when the village became a global news story, resulting in TV appearances on ITV and Channel 5.

In 2022 Mark was nominated for the John Bryne Writing Award as well as appearing on BBC Radio, Heartland FM, Vancouver Radio, BBC Alba, and The History Channel.

The Nearly Man, Mark's biography of a little known Scottish war hero turned villain, has been nominated for the prestigious James Tait Black Biography Award and resulted in Mark being asked to guest speak at the prestigious Aberdeen Grammar School,. 2022's Perthshire's Pound of Flesh became Perth Waterstones' Book of the Year, voted for by their staff and customers.

Mark has also seen his stories serialised in newspaper form and adapted for Canadian radio. A member of the Federation of Scottish Writers and The Thomas Hardy Society, Mark has written for the academic Thomas Hardy Journal and contributes a popular series of blog articles for the West Highland Museum. In addition, Mark regularly appears at UK book festivals, presenting his unique sell out event 'Trial By Jury' and hosts regular talks at bookshops and local historical societies.
