Hannes Warnecke-Berger is a senior researcher at the University of Kassel and the principal investigator of the research network extractivism. His research addresses resource and trade politics, development theory, North-South relations, global political economy, rent theories, migration, and remittances. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in Central America, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, the United States, and France, and has published widely on extractivism, rent-led development, and global inequalities. Hans-Jürgen Burchardt is Professor of International and Inter-Societal Relations at the University of Kassel and German Director of the Maria Sibylla Merian Center CALAS. He has long-standing experience in leading international cooperation projects and research networks in Latin America, and he directs the Kassel Latin America Center (CELA). His research focuses on environmental and resource politics, inequality, and development theory with a particular emphasis on Latin America.
