Lauren Carruth is Chair of the Department of Environment, Development & Health and Provost Associate Professor in the School of International Service at American University. She is author of Love and Liberation: Humanitarian Work in Ethiopia's Somali Region.

Lahra Smith is Associate Professor in the African Studies Program of the School of Foreign Service (SFS) and the Department of Government at Georgetown University. She is author of Making Citizens in Africa: Ethnicity, Gender, and National Identity in Ethiopia and editor (with Meron Zeleke) of African Perspectives on South-South Migration.

Moussa Ali Miguil has been passionate about drawing since his childhood and, since 2013, has illustrated several books and other products at CRIPEN (the Centre de Recherche, d'Information et de Production de l'Éducation Nationale), Djibouti's national organization for producing children's textbooks with content tailored to its local cultures. He resides in Djibouti City, Djibouti.
