This important book addresses a number of vital issues and problems related to the economics of the media industry and the press industry in the world, and the manifestations of these problems in Egypt and the Arab countries. Through its three chapters, the book discusses a major problem, which is the extent to which the media industry in the Arab world can adopt the knowledge economy model, as one of the most important new economic models that have emerged from the information and communication technology revolution, and the extent to which this industry can become one of the most important sources of soft power in Arab societies. This is done through a comparative study between the reality of this industry and the most important features of its development, and the most important challenges it faces in a number of Arab countries. The book also addresses the diagnosis and analysis of the elements and determinants of the crisis of financing and management within the framework of the print press industry, and scenarios for getting out of this crisis. Finally, it monitors and analyzes the most important modern global trends in financing print newspapers and digital media, and how to benefit from them in developing the economics of the press industry and the media industry in Egypt and the Arab world, and developing the structure of the markets within which this industry operates, while presenting a future vision on how to develop the specialization of media economics, at the level of its objective, theoretical and methodological frameworks.
